It was great to find a nice restaurant in the middle of the Algonquin wilderness. The vibe is friendly and the food did not disappoint! The halibut from the Fish and Chips had a thin batter and the fish was super moist. The bite into the fish with the house made tartar sauce was a satisfying one. The crust nicely hugged the fish, and the eating experience was very pleasant, ie. did not entail the fish falling out and pieces scattered all over. The baby back ribs were on the dry side for texture, but the taste was good. The mashed potatoes and veggies were nicely done. The staff were very warm and friendly, which set a welcoming atmosphere for all.

Excellent spot if you find yourself in Harcourt, or Maynooth or Haliburton. Excellent service (4th time in a row so that’s something). A menu with a wide selection and typically an excellent selection specials as well. We had the soup in special: potato & bacon which was the perfect temperature and doused with cheese. The house standard pizza were on our minds this time around and these are top notch. The 16” really served 2. Our friend had three fish & chips: reports from him were favourable and the piece of fish was substantial. Wait times from the kitchen were also reasonable: about 20 mins. Free refills of Diet Coke: yes thank you!

This cookhouse is fantastic, right from the staff to the everything we ordered. The interiors and aesthetics were spick and span. The staff were warm and welcoming. One slide of the delicious pizza was enough to fill your stomach, it was cheesy and tasty. The cocktail shrimp had a good flavour and the dip went well. The cauliflower were good but not the best, a little on the sour side. We were a group of 5 so the bill was decent. We could hear people singing and when we inquired, to our delight, it was the staff. What a great place to dine and work. Love the vibe here and if I visit Algonquin again, I’ll be sure to order their pizza!

Fantastic experience, especially for families with kids. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for a memorable meal. One of the standout features of this restaurant is its diverse menu that caters to all ages. The kids' menu is not an afterthought but a well-thought-out selection of dishes that appeal to younger palates.

Food was decent for pub-type dishes and service was excellent. Server was very friendly and helpful (Sydney, I think??). Prices were higher than I was expecting for the kind of food on the menu. I had an entree and a mixed drink, and with the tip I paid $37. Comfortable atmosphere. Nice place to go with friends for a casual night out.
